Food pyramid

Food pyramid

Everybody will have seen this famous listing of basic foods, shaped like a pyramid. Go level to level to see how much should be eaten of each food group.

When explaining the pyramid, one should first start with the foundation. Before even starting with the base foods, one important factor should always be underlined: Enough hydration. 1.5 litres of fluid – or in many cases more – should be drank every day, and ideally mineral water. For little children diluted juices or unsweetened teas are also a good option. To see how much water your child should drink according to his or her weight, click here.

The food pyramid is a good guide for the development of healthy menus that you and your kids should profit from. Nevertheless, when using general guidelines one should never forget that every individual, especially children, have their very own needs and requirements – one should therefore not blindly follow the pyramid, but rather use it as a general reference. Beyond this, one should consider the specific physique and/or potential deficiencies or excesses of the child.
